Iscariot Media is excited to announce that we now have a full-time graphic designer on board, and a home-grown one at that.

Michael Ah Kee, recently graduated from TAFE Queensland with a Diploma of Graphic Design, joins us full-time in 2020. While still an emerging designer and finding his style, Michael loves working with people and crafting ways of visually representing their stories.

As a recent graduate Michael will work under the expert guidance of IM’s Senior Creative Project Manager Dr Amanda Moffatt, and our senior designers – Indigenous and non-Indigenous.

Even though he is still developing his practice, he is not afraid of hard work, and just this year Michael is working on a range of design projects for local small businesses in South East Queensland, to community organisations in both Brisbane and New South Wales, as well as a high-end coffee table book for Queensland Government. His passion at the moment is illustration but he is also enjoying the challenge of simple animations (as seen on our home page!).

In addition to design, Michael will also occasionally represent IM and continue relationship building with the Indigenous business community that IM is a part of.

This morning Michael attended a Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships business breakfast (his first visit to 1 William Street!) with a small number of other Indigenous businesses to discuss procurement in Queensland Government and its impact on the Indigenous business landscape. Easily the youngest in the room this morning, Michael is keen to build respectful relationships with the Aunties and Uncles of the community and learn from their expertise and experience.
